Chandigarh, Apr 2 (UNI) Two sports journalists of a national daily were allegedly attacked by miscreants here when they were returning home from their office.

Vivek Mukherji and Tapan Joshi of Times of India were beaten up by three people at Mohali Phase-10 area when they were having cigarette while returning from their night shift at around 12.30 am yestersday.

The three men who were sitting in a nearby park allegedly rushed at them and started abusing them unprovoked. One of the attackers threw down Mukherji's bike and punched him. As a result Mukherji suffered minor cuts and bruises. They then kicked Joshi.

The two scribes, however, managed to escape and returned home. The incident took place barely 100m away from the residence of Mukherji.

Mukherji said despite making repeated calls to the Phase-11 police chowki, the PCR turned up almost two hours after the incident and by that time the miscreants had disappeared in the darkness.
