BJP hails Manmohan's approach on North-East

Jammu, Apr 2 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today lauded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for stating that no compromise will be made on the issue of infiltration from Bangladesh.

Party state vice-president and spokesman Prof. Hari Om also welcomed the Prime Minister's statement made in Guawahati yesterday that there is also no question of discussing the issue of Indian sovereignty with the separatist groups including United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), active in north east.

The statement should be taken as a source of some inspiration notwithstanding his ambiguous stand on the illegal Bangladeshi settlers in the sensitive north eastern parts of the country, he added.

The BJP leader at the same time, urged the Prime Minister to reject outright Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's March 29 suggestion to "share sovereignty with the terrorist and fundamentalist Pakistan on Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India." He said such an outright repudiation by Dr. Singh has become absolutely necessary in view of Mr Azad's suggestion which hints India and Pakistan should jointly manage the state water resources and work on agriculture, sericulture and tourism sectors.
