AP govt to allocate Rs 15,000 crore for irrigation next year : YSR

Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that his government would allocate Rs 15,000 crore to complete pending irrigation projects in the state next year.

Launching the scheme 'Rythu Chaitanya Yatras' (farmer awareness camps) near Angadipet village at PA Palli mandal in Nalgonda district here, Dr Reddy said the government had allocated Rs 10,000 crore for constructing the projects this year.

It would be increased to Rs 12,000 crore next year.

Stating that the government was committed to increasing productivity in agriculture sector by providing credit to the farmers, he said agriculture insurance was being implemented at district level and credit provided to 86,000 tenant farmers this year.
