228 candidates in the 'first phase' after scrutiny
Kolkata, Apr 2 (UNI) Altogether 228 candidates today remained in the fray after scrutiny of nomination for the first phase of Assembly elections in three West Bengal districts.
Election office said after cancellation of nomination of 15 aspirants, the number of candidates was 95 in West Midnapore, 63 in Bankura and 70 in Purulia.
While 14 nominations were rejected in Purulia, one was cancelled in West Midnapore districts.
Elections for altogether 44 seats in these three districts will be held on April 17.
There are eleven Assembly seats in Purulia, 21 in West Midnapore and 13 in Bankura.
Filing of nomination for the first phase ended on March 31.
