VFI appoints Brazilian as coach
Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) today appointed Brazilian Ivo Jopse De Oliveira as coach of national team.
In a press release here, VFI president B Sivanthi Adityan said, ''We are confident that the Brazilian coach will be able to help our team obtain an Olympic quota berth next year and also to win a medal in the Asian Games at Doha in December this year.
Adityan said Oliveira will hold clinics for the national coaches in tune with the existing system in the world.
VFI secretary K Murugan said both the senior and junior players had been asked to assemble in Bangalore so that the coach can select a team of his choice.
Murugan said the junior team would compete in the Ferrusio Memorial International tournament from April 14 to 17 in Italy, the release added.
