ULFA urges voting for those who can ensure sovereignty
Guwahati, Apr 1 (UNI) The proscribed ULFA has called on the people of Asom not to vote for any party not committed to resolve the 'Asom-India political conflict'.
In a statement yesterday, United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said, ''Political problem is the main issue in the state and it cannot be solved under the colonial system that exists in the state.'' He flayed the Congress and Asom Gana Parishad for failing to resolve the issue even though both had promised to solve it, if voted to power.
He said, ''the people should only vote for politics that would ensure sovereignty for Asom.'' Meanwhile, 'commander' of ULFA's 109th battalion Lal Deka and one of his associates were killed in an encounter with the Gorkha regiment at Dudhnoi yesterday.
