SRM students to be trained in Japan

Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) Three students of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) here will undergo training in Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences in Japan.

Addressing a press conference here, SRMIST Research and Virtual Education Director M Ponnavaikko said the B.Tech Chemical Engineering students were being deputed to Hiyoshi Corporation Ltd., which is actively engaged in urban environmental preservation, for two months.

The industrial training programme carried academic weightage of two credits in the curriculum of SRM Deemed University. The credits would be transferred to SRM on its successful completion.

Mr Ponnavaikko said the students would be trained in pollution standards of developed countries like Japan, Germany, United States and United Kingdom, recent methods such as 'CACUX' developed by them to measure and analyse various type of pollutants and latest technology to treat pollutants and control them.

The students would also be familiarised with different instruments and equipment employed in pollutant treatment plants, he added.
