Self-styled area commander killed, two captured

Garwah, Apr 1 (UNI) A self-styled area commander of the proscribed CPI(Moist) was killed and another two were captured in an encounter with Police at Kutku village, about 114 km from here yesterday, police said today.

The deceased has been identified.

Police also recovered three rifles, one country made pistol and about 400 rounds of ammuntion from the encounter site.

On a tip-off police and CRPF personnel surrounded the area where about 40 naxalites were holding a meeting. Seeing the police, the naxalites started firing on them. The Police also retaliated and in the ensuing gun battle the area commander was killed. The encounter lasted for about one and half hours.

Police said all the naxalites are from Chhattishgarh.
