Self-styled area commander killed, two arrested

Garwah, Apr 1 (UNI) A self-styled area commander of the proscribed CPI(Moist) was killed and two others were captured in an encounter with police at Kutku village, about 114 km from here yesterday, police said today.

The deceased has been identified.

Police also recovered three rifles, one country made pistol and about 400 rounds of ammuntion from the encounter site.

On a tip-off police and CRPF personnel surrounded the area where about 40 naxalites were holding a meeting. Seeing the police, the naxalites started firing at them. The Police also retaliated and in the ensuing one and a half hours long encounter battle the area commander was killed. T Police said all the naxalites were from Chhattishgarh.
