SC sets aside ruling on JE appointments in Himachal
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) The Supreme Court has set aside the Himachal Pradesh High Court judgement restraining the state from appointing the selected candidates to the posts of junior engineers in the state Irrigation and Health department on contract basis.
Allowing the appeal filed by President of a newly-appointed Junior Engineers Association Ramesh Kumar, a bench comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice C K Thakker and Justice R V Raveendra yesterday set aside the High Court judgement dated July 25, 2005.
The High Court had passed the order on a PIL filed by Mohan Sharma who challenged the selection process and the High Court directed in its order dated June 10, 2005 that these candidates would not be allowed to join their new assignments till further orders.
The petitioner in the apex court has questioned the stand of Mr Sharma in filing the PIL. The Supreme Court upheld the objections of the petitioner as he was not an aggrieved party.
