Reporter attacked by Police Inspector
Erode (TN), Apr 1: A magazine reporter was allegedly manhandled by an inspector at Taluk Police station here and detained for three hours when he went to seek details about a friend's seized two-wheeler.
The reporter was released only after journalists resorted to road roko for over 30 minutes in front of the police station.
According to mediapersons Kumudam Weekly reporter Sakthi (26) went to the police station yesterday to ask about his friend's seized two-wheeler.
Without listening, Inspector Marai allegedly manhandled him. When the reporter showed his identity card, the inspector took away his card and his cell phone. Sakthi called other journalists who rushed to the police station and asked for his release. When the inspector refused, they resorted to a road blockade.
The reporter was let off only after DSP Velayutham intervened.
Sakthi was admitted to the government Hospital for treatment.
