Power tariff revised in MP

Bhopal, Apr 1 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has revised the tariff of Discom consumers in the state with effect from today, giving marginal relief to domestic customers.

The Commission, in an order issued late last night, imposed uniform rates to the customers of three distribution companies.

Domestic consumers with monthly consumption upto 30 units will be charged 265 paise per unit, 270 paise for consumption between 30 to 50 units, 300 paise for consumption between 50 and 100 units and 340 paise for consumption above 100 units. Domestic consumers will also have to pay minimum surcharge of Rs 30.

Those unmetred customers getting supply through metred distribution transformer will be charged 245 paise per unit.

The tariff for street light and water supply plants remain unchanged. The rates for agriculture consumers have been rationalised effecting an increase of 8.9 percent. The increase will be 4.6 percent for low tension customers and 6.9 percent for high tension customers.

The commission, while revising the tariff, sanctioned revenue expenditure of a total of Rs 7002.62 crore to three Discoms against the demand for Rs 8519.14 crore after fixing permissible loss at 32.5 per cent for East Zone Discom, 30 per cent for West Zone Discom and 37 per cent for Central Zone Discom.
