Police seize pirated CDs/DVDs

Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) Police arrested 11 people and seized pirated CDs/DVDs worth over Rs 14 lakh during overnight raids in different areas of the city.

Their social service branch swung into action following a complaint from UTV, producer of Hindi film 'Rang De Basanti', that counterfeit CDs of the film were being sold in the market.

As many as 15,000 pirated CDs/DVDs, including 800 of the Aamir Khan-starrer, were seized and 11 people arrested, police sources said, adding the remaining stock comprised of Teesari Ankh, Ashiq, Barsat, Garam Masala, Taxi No.9211, Malamal and Kyonki.

Prelimnary investigation revealed that Rang De Basanti was allegedly copied from the master print sent to Amravati distributor Ajay Navandhar.

Police have booked him in a case of cheating.
