Palashbari candidate continues campaign after end of hours

Guwahati, Apr 1 (UNI) Incumbent Pranab Kalita of Palashbari rpt Palashbari constituency today faced the ire of the Election Commission (EC) for campaigning even after end of canvassing hours.

The independent candidate was seen addressing an election rally after 1600 hours, the time stipulated by the Election Commission for wrapping of campaigning. Palashbari rpt Palshbari goes to the polls on April 3 in the first phase of Asom polls.

The district election officer, on seeing the violation, called in the local police and forced Mr Kalita to step down from the dais.

The candidate was likely to face disciplinary action for violating the model code of conduct.
