NNP supports regional parties in Assembly elections

Imphal, Apr 1 (UNI) Naga National Party (NNP) president N G Hungyo has said the national parties should support regional parties as they are better equipped to address local interests.

''The people should decide their own fate and hence national parties like the Congress and the BJP should encourage the local or regional parties,'' Mr Hungyo said.

The national parties have been only ''talking'' and for the last 50 years no serious development has taken place, he alleged.

''A regional government is the need of the hour so that it will represent regional interests,'' he said.
