Jamshedpur, Apr 1 (UNI) Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman today inaugurated a new badminton stadium and a training centre adjacent to the Mohan Ahuja indoor stadium here.

The new stadium, built by the Tata Steel's subsidiary unit Jamshedpur Utility Services Company (JUSCO) at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, has a sitting capacity of around 5000 spectators and three courts.

The new indoor stadium is an extension of Mohan Ahuja stadium, which came up in 1958.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Muthuraman said the stadium was a part of the company's commitment towards the development of sports and the same facilities would be provided to Tentaposi, the new project of the steel company near here.

He said the new stadium was equipped with world class facilities and apart from national events, international meets would also be held there.

The training centre would also be a boon for the budding shuttlers, Mr Muthuraman added.

Chief of Tata steel sports department Satish Pillai said the centre was the first of its kind here.
