NDFB, ULFA decide not to disrupt election process
Guwahati, Apr 1 (UNI) Militant organisations NDFB and ULFA have announced that they would not disrupt the election process in Asom.
Both the militant organisations have decided not to issue boycott calls or threaten violence during the election.
NDFB Secretary General Govinda Basumatary told reporters today at Udalguri, where the organisation has designated camps near the Indo-Bhutan boundary, that they will stay away from the polls.
They issued strict instructions to their cadres, asking them not to get involved in electioneering of any political party, including that of independent candidates.
In the past two elections both ULFA and NDFB had a major say in government formation as the ULFA openly supported AGP while NDFB supported all non-Bodo parties.
On the other hand, the All Asom Students Union(AASU) urged the people of the state to vote for 'clean,' responsible and efficient candidates.
