Mittal representatives meet Munda

Ranchi, Apr 1 (UNI) Representatives from steel baron L N Mittal controlled Mittal Steel today had a disucussion with Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on various issues to set up its proposed greenfield plant in the state.

The chief minister assured the Mittal representatives to meet its requirements including water, iron ore, coal and land.

He also said Santhal Paragana could be suitable to set up the plant as it was situated near the Ganges river and it would be nearer to Haldia port.

The chief minister also directed the state development commissioner to constitute a core committee to monitor the progress of the works.

Dr Sanat Mishra, executive (operation), Jharkhand, led the Mittal team.

The Mittals had signed a memorendum of understanding with the Jharkhand government to set up its high tech plant with a capacity 12 million tonnes.

A team of exectuvies of Mittal group had also visited the some of the probable sites to set up the plant.
