Maharashtra govt reconstitutes cultural committee

Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has reconstituted the committee which selects the people making an immense contribution to the cultural field for state awards.

State Cultural Affairs Minister Ashok Chavan will be the chairman of the committee, while Minister of State for Cultural Affairs Rana Jagjitsingh Patil will be the Deputy Chairman.

The Secretary (Cultural Affairs) will be the member, while Director (Cultural Affairs) will be the member secretary, an official release said here today.

The committee will have 11 non-government members. They are Baba Maharaj Satarkar, Prof Laxman Deshpande, Sushma Deshpande, Keshav Badge, Madhu Kambikar, Subal Sarkar, Rajaram Shinde, Isaq Mujawar, Suresh Wadkar, Baburao Sadvelkar and Jabbar Patel.

The 11 members have been appointed for the period of three years with effect from March 10 or till the reconstitution of the committee, the release added.
