Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) Indian Coast Guard detained nine Sri Lankan fihermen who were fishing in international waters in the Bay of Bengal off the Cuddalore coast.

Coast Guard spirces told UNI here today that they were on retuine patrol between Chennai and Cuddalore when they found the Lankan fishermen in two mechanised boats veturing into Indian waters on Thursday night.

The Coast Guard towed the boats alone with their catch to the Chennai coast early this morning.

After preliminary investigation,they would be handed over to local police for further action,the sources added.
