Japanese power major keen to invest in North-East

Itanagar, Apr 1: Japanese power major Funakawa Information and Environment Technology Company Ltd (FIETC) has expressed its desire to invest in the North-East, particularly Arunachal Pradesh.

Senior company officials have visited the state and held discussion with the Arunachal officials, including power secretary Tumke Bagra.

Pointing out that Japan and India have always shared good relation with each other, FIETC President Katsuo Funakawa said Japan's focus had shifted from China to India of late.

''We would like to develop long-term strategic ties with India and Japanese companies could join in to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries,'' he said.
