Identification process of sensitive booths in progress

Pondicherrry, Apr 1(UNI) The process of identification of sensitive and hypersensitive polling booths in the Union Territory of Pondicherry were on and as many as 77 polling stations were identified as sensitive and 13 as hypersensitive, District Collector and District Election Officer Theva Neethi Das said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said steps were taken to maintain law and order during the election process in these areas.

Mr Das said the election department had set up a Complaint Cell for violation of Model Code of Conduct with a toll free number.

He said so far nine complaints were received and the auctioning of the Bahour Lake was stopped.

He said the Election Commission had appointed 14 observers for the Union Territory.

He said the Pondicherry administration had issued orders for the observance of ''Dry Days'' in all the regions for three days.

Mr Das said as per the direction of the Election Commission, Screening Committee under the Chairmanship of Joint Chief Electoral Officer had been constituted for pre-viewing, scrutinising and certifying advertisements of political nature on TV channels and cable networks.
