Humpy retains second spot in FIDE ratines

Vijayawada, Apr 1 (UNI) Grand Master Koneru Humpy maintained her position as world number two among women and world number one among junior girls, according to FIDE rating list released today.

Koneru Ashok, Humpy's father and coach told UNI here that despite her failure in the recent women's world chess championship in Russia, there was a steady increase in Humpy's rating as she gained 11 points and maintained her rating at 2,548.

Judit Polgar of Hungary topped the list with a rating of 2,711.

Humpy tops the girls list holding the record of being the only girl to be ranked number one for 16 times, he said, adding her rating is the highest ever achieved by any junior girl.

Humpy is number five among men in India. She is the youngest among top 10 indian men, he added.
