French ambassador calls on Goa Governor, CM

Panaji, Apr 1 (UNI) French Ambassador to India Dominique Girard today called on Goa Governor S C Jamir and Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane to extend courtesies.

Rear Admiral Xavier Magne, the commander of the French Task Force which is participating in the ongoing Indo-French Joint Naval Exercises codenamed ''Varuna-06'', was accompanying Mr Girard.

The ambassador, in presence of the commanders of both the Indian and French naval task forces, was likely to witness the intensified simulated war exercises beginning tomorrow off Goa coast in the Arabian Sea, besides interacting with both the Navies.

This was part of an effort to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries, besides fostering maritime goodwill by promoting peace and stability in the region.
