CPI leader passes away
Vijayawada, Apr 1 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) City Secretary K Sekhar Babu who was critically injured in a road accident at Ambapuram village last night, passed away at a private hospital here this evening.
He was 59 and is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
Mr Babu's condition improved slightly this morning. But it worsened again in the afternoon.
He met with an accident when his scooter collided with a tractor while on his way here. He was admitted to a private hospital last night with a head injury.
Doctors conducted a brain surgery around midnight and he was on ventillator since then.
CPI State Secretary K Narayana, who was at the hospital since morning condoled the death of Mr Babu. The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) also condoled the death.
In a statement it said the CITU lost an important leader who participated in many leftist agitations.
