Commonwealth medal winners get rousing welcome in home town

Jalandhar, Apr 1 (UNI) A warm welcome was today accorded to sports persons from Punjab who won medals at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Three members of the Indian squad -- athletes Manjit Kaur and Rajbir Kaur and weightlifter Vicky Batta- reached here this afternoon by train from Delhi.

The officials of Punjab Police and state Sports Directorate and family members of the players were present at the railway station to receive them.

Later, they were taken to Punajb Armed Police (PAP) premises here in an open vehicle for reception.

The three sportspersons have won silver medals in their respective events at the Games.
