Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today announced a tie-up with Schwing Stetter India for providing skill training to youth in 'concrete pump' and 'batching plant' operations.

While the training would be provided by Schwing Stetter India, a Rs 300 crore company involved in manufacturing ready mix concrete equipment, the CII and City and Guilds of United Kingdom would issue certificates to the candidates after completion of the course.

Chairman CII-Southern Region R Parasuraman said the "Skills Development Initiative" wing of the CII would try to make ten lakh youth employable by 2010 and had tied up with City and Guilds to offer specialised vocational courses throughout the country in partnership with private sector and government agencies.

"The CII is targeting to skill 5,000 people by the end of this year on various trades and make them employable," he said.
