Charas worth Rs 50 lakhs seized

Patna, Apr 1 (UNI) Police today seized 500 gms of 'Malaysian charas' valued at Rs 50 lakh and an ancient statue of Lord Buddha bearing antique value from the possession of a smuggler in Kadmakuan area of the city.

Deputy Police Superintendent(sadar) Sushant Kumar Saroj said that acting on a tip-off, police raided a hideout and arrested the smuggler, Tribhuwan Prasad.

The statue of Lord Buddha was made of 'Astdhatu', an alloy consisting of eight precious metals and its antique value was being assessed, he added.
