Bomb hoax at Mahim railway station causes panic
Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) After recent bomb hoaxes at the suburban Bandra and Dadar railway stations, another anonymous call received at Mahim station today turned out to be a hoax call.
The railway authorities diverted a few local trains following the call which created panic.
Police received an anonymous call around 1625 hours with the caller claiming that a bomb had been planted on platform number one of the Mahim station.
Police swung into action imediately following which the railway authorities diverted incoming local trains to platform number two.
A bomb detection and disposal squad was pressed into service which scanned the platform for about an hour. However, no explosives were found during the search.
Normal train services have been restored, Western Railway sources said.
Similar bomb hoaxes had caused panic at Bandra and Dadar railway stations here on March 30 and March 28 respectively.
