Bajaj's 2005-06 vehicle sales up 25 pc

New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Bajaj Auto Ltd, India's second-largest motorcycle maker, today reported a 25 per cent rise in sales for the financial year 2005-06.

The compmany sold 2,279,862 units during 2005-06 as compared to 1,826,798 units in the previous year.

Motorcycle sales recorded a huge 32 per cent jump in sales to 1,912,224 units as compared to 1,449,710 units during 2004-05.

Total two-wheeler sales during the period rose by 26 per cent to 2,027,856 units against 1,604,745 units.

Exports during the year increased by 27 per cent to 250,168 units against 196,710 units last year.

Sales in March rose 30 per cent to 2,12,419 units from 1,63,683 units a year earlier.

The company said sales of motorcycles rose 37 per cent to 1,83,927 units from 1,34,707, while sales of all two-wheelers grew 30 per cent to 1,87,696 units against 1,44,861 units a year earlier.

Sales of three-wheelers climbed 31 per cent to 24,723 units from 18,822 units a year earlier.

Exports rose 19 per cent to 28,998 units from 24,422 units a year earlier.
