SC dismisses PIL seeking beefed up security at religious places

New Delhi, Mar 31: The Supreme Court today dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Centre to step up security around all the religious places in the country in view of the serial blasts in Varanasi, in which 12 persons were killed and scores injured.

Mrs Justice Ruma Pal and Mr Justice Dalveer Bhandari while dismissing the petition of Mohammad Aslam Bhure said, ''Don't worry, they are doing their job''.

Bhure has been filing a number of PILs in Babari Masjid case also.

Earlier the petitioner had pleaded that in view of the bomb blasts of Sankatmochak temple and railway station in the holy city, it was necessary to issue directions to the security agencies, to beef up securtiy in and around religious places so that terrorists do not succeed in their efforts to disturb the communal harmony.
