Bangalore, Mar 31 (UNI) More than 50 people have been arrested in the coastal town of Bhatkal in karnataka following widespread clash between two gfroups following a stabbing incident in which one person was killed.

Uttara Kannada District Superintendent of Police S Ravi told UNI that the situation was now under control.

The town witnessed clashes between two groups since Wednesday following the disappearance of two statues.

Police clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of Criminal Procedure code following the breakout of violent incidents. the prohibitory orders would be in vogue till sunday morning, Mr Ravi said.

Mr Ravi said police have arrested more than 50 people in connection with the violent incidents. Additional forces have been deployed froim neighbouring districts to tighten the security arrangements.
