Notification for second phase of polls issued

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31 (UNI) The Election Commission today issued notification for the second phase of Assembly polls on April 29.

In this phase, 66 Assembly constituencies in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam would go to the polls.

The last date for filing nominations is April 7 and scrutiny of papers would be on April 8. Last date for withdrawals is April 10.

Already 24 nominations were filed for the first phase elections on April 22 yesterday, notification for which was issued on March 28.

In the first phase, 59 constituencies in Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram would go for polling.

Notifications for the third phase polls on May 9 would be issued on April 5. Fifteen constituencies in the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod would go to the polls in the final phase.

Counting of votes would take place on May 11.
