Colombo, Mar 31 (UNI) Sri Lanka's opening master-blaster Sanath Jayasuriya has informed the Sri Lanka Cricket Board that he would retire from the Test Cricket from next week, to concentrate only on the one-day game until the 2007 World Cup.

The left-handed cricket star has handed over his letter seeking retirement from the Test cricket to the Sri Lanka Cricket chief, Duleep Mendis today. The second Test with the visiting Pakistan cricket team to be played in Kandy Asgiriya stadium would be his last international Test match.

The former Sri Lankan Cricket captain has, however, said that he would be available for one-day games at least until the 2007 World Cup.

Opener Jayasuriya has played in 101 Tests as an all-rounder.

There was no immediate reaction from the Sri Lanka Cricket on his retirement so far.
