Written by: Staff

Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) Intel with National Commodity and Derivatives Exchanges Limited (NCDEX) launched India's first indigenously developed community PC here on Wednesday.

The PC design has low maintenance costs and will provide higher uptime apart from other features customized to suit the rural conditions.

NCDEX Technology Head Mr Chandra Shekhar said, ''It has been NCDEX's aim and vision to set up kiosks across the length and breadth of India with the objective of providing financial services and related information at the doorstep of an agriculture-based population. With the launch of the community PC, we have further strengthened our linkages with rural India. We are proud to be part of the first Indian attempt at providing this technology for the rural markets.'' NCDEX intends to set-up kiosks, which will serve as a hub for financial services. The kiosks located primarily in rural India would provide services such as insurance, e-banking, training on commodity trading, apart from facilitating online trading in commodities and equities. NCDEX has entered into a technology partnership with INTEL to provide its indigenously developed community PC for the kiosks. The community PC will serve as a reliable entity that will connect the kiosk to various financial service providers such as NCDEX, insurance companies, banks. Since the kiosks are to be primiarly located in rural areas, the community PC fits the bill as it has been designed to suit the adverse conditions prevalent in these locations.

Ncdex believes the PC with several hours of battery back-up, ruggedness: Asset Control will facilitate uninterrupted interactive services at the kiosks and easy manageability and maintenance to the kiosk operator. This is definitely going to strengthen NCDEX's linkages with rural India and another initiative by NCDEX to empower the rural population with information and useful services, that will effect in better standard of living.
