High-tech emission testing Lab at HMT Pinjore inaugurated

Chandigarh, Mar 31 (UNI) HMT Ltd has established a high-tech Engine Emission Testing Laboratory for enhancing the performance of its tractors as well as complying to future emission norms.

The laboratory was formally inauguated by HMT Chairman and Managing Director M S Zahed at the HMT Tractor Unit, Research and Development Centre at Pinjore near here yesterday.

The laboratory was established with an investment of Rs five crore and is the first of its kind in the northern region.

The state-of-the-art laboratory has been equipped to test engines for the current TREM-III emission norms as well as TREM-IV norms that are likely to be implemented by the tractor industry in 2008.

Besides meeting HMT's own requirements, the facility would be extended to other engine manufacturers also.

Prior to this laboratory, HMT engines were tested at MICO, Bangalore and Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune.

HMT manufactures tractor in 25 to 75 HP ranges besides other light earth moving machinery and high-speed transport oriented tractors. It also manufactures and sells stand-alone engines for varied use including to other tractor manufacturers.
