Carcass of leopard found in Amreli dist
Rajkot, Mar 31: The carcass of a five-year-old leopard was found near Barman village in Khambha taluka of Amreli district, but there was no evidence of poaching, an official said.
According to Assistant Conservator of Forest J S Solanki, the leopard had cut marks on its neck, which indicated that they were sustained when the beast tried to free itself from the wire it got entangled in.
Mr Solanki ruled out the possibility of poaching but suspected that someone might have laid the trap.
Nails and skin on the carcass found yesterday were intact, he said.
Officials did not find any footprints near the carcass.
A case under the wildlife protection act has been registered and investigation is on. No one has been arrested so far, Mr Solanki said.
