245 file nomination for first phase of elections

Kolkata, Mar 31(UNI) Altogether 245 candidates put stakes for 45 Assembly seats in Purulia, West Midnapore and Bankura districts as filing of nomination for the first phase of elections on April 17 ended today.

Official sources said the number of total candidates was 84 in Purulia, 98 in West Midnapore and 63 in Bankura.

Altogether 43 people--16 in West Midnapore, 21 in Purulia and six in Bankura filed their nominations today.

There are eleven Assembly seats in Purulia, 21 in West Midnapore and 13 in Bankura.

The process for filing nomination for the first phase started on March 24.
