Two injured in attack by NCP activists
Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) Two persons were seriously injured after they were attacked by alleged Nationalist Congress Party activists near Thane late last night, police today said.
The victims -- Chandrakant Desai and Ajay Vishwakarma, were earlier with the NCP but had decided to join the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, floated by Mr Raj Thackery.
Both had prepared posters, declaring their intention. NCP local ward president Thanaji Kolekar and other activists, however, objected to the pasting of the posters, police said.
The situation took a turn for the worse when few activists attacked Desai and Vishwakarma with swords and choppers. Both of them were rushed to Thane civil hospital and later shifted to the KEM Hospital today with serious injuries.
Police have registered a case against five persons including Kolekar. However, no arrests have been made in this connection so far.
