Ten years RI for rapist

Hardwar, Mar 30 (UNI) A fast track court today sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a woman in 2003.

The second fast track court of the additional district judge R D Paliwal also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

According to sources, the convict raped the wife of Dharam Singh of the village Hakimpur Turra on July 16, 2003.

The accused had also threatened the family of the victim with dire consequences, if they reported the case.

Besides 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000, the fast track judge also awarded one year imprisonment to the accused under section 506 of the IPC for intimidating the family of the victim.
