Shiv Sena announces candidates for MLC elections

Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray has announced the names of Dr Deepak Sawant and Mr Padmakar Ingle as the condidates for the biennial elections to Mumbai graduates' constituency and Marathwada teachers constituency, respectively.

Dr Sawant is the sitting member of the Upper House and is a medical practioner while Mr Ingle is a teacher in Saraswati Bhuvan school in Aurangabad for the last 16 years, a release issued by the party here today said.

Dr Sawant, who is presently an MLC elected from the Legislative Assembly, will be the party candidate in place of veteran member Pramod Navalkar, who will retire on July 7.

Mr Ingle is the party candidate for the by-election to Marathwada teachers' constituency, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of sitting MLC Vasant Kale, belonging to the NCP.
