Russia urges Iran to consider UNSC advice
Moscow, Mar 30 (UNI) Russia today called on Iran to carefully examine the statement recently adopted by the UN Security Council on its nuclear programme.
''We urge the Iranian authorities to carefully listen to the unanimous opinion of UN Security Council members and thus seek cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on all remaining issues,'' a Russian Foreign Ministry statement said.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in Berlin today Iran could exercise its right to develop peaceful nuclear energy under the condition of full cooperation with the UN's nuclear watchdog.
''We would like to resolve the problem by diplomatic means, but this requires Iran's full cooperation with the IAEA. In this case, Iran will be able to fully use the opportunities of its legal right to peaceful nuclear energy development,'' RIA Novosti news agency quoted him as saying.
He said the foreign ministers of the European 'troika' (Germany, Britain and France), the United States, Russia and China had expressed concern over Iran's nuclear programme during the meeting in Berlin.
