Pandemonium in Orissa Assembly;Congress MLA hospitalised
Bhubaneswar, Mar 30 (UNI) Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati fell unconscious during an Opposition demonstration inside the well of the Orissa Assembly demanding resignation of Excise Minister Kalandi Behera for his alleged involvement in the Ganjam liquor tragedy.
Mr Bahinipati fell sick while trying to climb to the podium to disrupt the business of the house during the question hour. He was prevented by the Assembly security.
The Congress MLA suddenly fell sick and was laid down on the Reporters table. BJD member Ramesh Chandra Chau Pattnaik and Congress member Nurshingha Sahu rushed to him and examined his pulse.
He was then shifted to a nearby Private Hospital by his party colleagues.
Speaker Maheswar Mohanty adjourned the house till 1200 hours.
When the house reassembled Deputy Speaker Prahallad Dora asked Finance Minister P C Ghadei and BJD member Raghunath Mohanty to lay some papers.
Mr Dora then announced that the demands for grants relating to various departments would be taken up at 1700 hours and adjourn the house till 1500 hours.
For the ninth consecutive day today the business of the house was stalled by the Opposition demanding resignation of the Excise minister alleging his involvement in the Ganjam liquor tragedy.
