Opposition boycott Orissa Assembly demanding security
Bhubaneswar, Mar 30 (UNI) After disrupting Orissa Assembly for the last eight days, the Opposition today boycotted the house demanding proper security for the members.
Leader of Opposition J B Pattnaik clearly told Speaker Maheswar Mohanty that they would not attend the House until the speaker assured full security inside the House and led a noisy walkout during the post-lunch session.
The Assembly had been witnessing a pandemonium for the last nine days, forcing the chair to announce a series of adjournments. The House was also adjourned today.
The entire Opposition, right from the question hour, had stalled the proceedings of the House, demanding resignation of Excise Minister Kalandi Behera for his alleged links in the Ganjam hooch tragedy and closeness with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Like previous days, the House witnessed bedlam during the question hour in which Congress member Tara Prasad Bahinipati fell sick and was shifted to the hospital.
This led to the adjournment of the house till lunch.
