Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 30 (UNI) Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) president K Muraleedhran will contest from Koduvally constituency in Kozhikode district in the coming Assembly elections.

Talking to mediapersons after the DIC(K) parliamentary and state leadership meeting here, Mr Muraleedharan said he would contest from the constituency following pressure from the party.

Though the party had declared candidates in all the 18 seats allotted to the DIC(K), Radha Raghavan, candidate for the North Wayanad, informed her unwillingness to contest the election. Hence, the party exchanged the seat with Koduvally, an Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) sitting seat.

Claiming that the main agenda of the party was to ensure the success of the UDF, he said, the DIC(K) would wholeheartedly work for the success of other 122 UDF candidates, besides its 18 candidates.

''The DIC(K) will always be obliged to the UDF, as they helped the party,''he said adding that ''DIC (K) will never indulge in breach of trust.'' The declared policy of the DIC(K) was to work hard for the success of the Front which was extending help to the party, he said.

When pointed out the threat of rebel candidates, he said such threats had always been in the initial stages of every election and they would automatically vanish from the scene at the closing stages.

However, he warned that strict action would be taken, including expulsion, against those, who continued in the fray and make public statements against the party.
