Munda woos tea garden labourers in Asom
Guwahati, Mar 30 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today addressed a series of election rallies in upper Asom in a bid to woo the tea garden labourers to vote for BJP.
Lakhs of tea garden labourers, originally from Jharkhand and Bihar, are working in over 700-odd tea gardens in the state.
BJP is banking on labour leaders like Arjun Munda and Babulal Marandi in the state, specially in upper Asom, where mostly tea garden labourers continue to play an important factor during the polls.
Party sources here said that Mr Munda has addressed election rallies at Biswanath Chariali, Bokakhat and Lohowal in the tea garden estates in upper Asom.
''The people of the state are fed up with the misrule and hollow promises of Congress and wants a poitive change this time. BJP is the only party who can provide an alternative to the Congress in the state,'' Mr Munda said, adding that ''a surprise is in store in Asom this time.'' UNI AB SP VD HS1905
