Lakhs congregate for 'darshan' of Maa Vindhyavasini Devi

Mirzapur, Mar 30 (UNI) An estimated 1.5 lakh devotees congregated here today for the 'darshan' of Maa Vindhyavasini Devi on the first day of the auspicious 'Chaitra Navratra'.

The rush of devotees started since yeserday and the crowd would continue to swell in the days to come.

The mela venue spread across 14 sq kms is colourfully decked up.

Elaborate security net has been thrown in view of the mammoth congregation in the district.

PAC and police jawans have been deployed at all paths leading to the much reverred Maa Vindhyavasini Devi temple.

The devotees are being subjected to metal detector tests before being allowed 'darshan' of the diety.

Close circuit TVs have been installed at vital points and plain clothed cops pressed into service.

A control tower has been set up to coordinate with a number of especially installed outposts in the area for effective crowd management.
