Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) Karnataka-based MSPL Limited will be acquiring six railway rakes for transportation of iron ore from its mines in the Bellary-Hospet region to ports in Goa and New Mangalore, for export purposes.
The company recently received three of these six rakes and is expecting to receive two more this week. The sixth rake would be received early next month, a release issued here today said.
''This is a significant step forward in our logistics management as this would not just improve our efficiency levels and cut logistics costs by about 30 per cent, but also help us post better revenues in the coming years,'' company's Director Shrenik Baldota said.
MPSL, which is the largest private sector iron ore processing and exporter from Karnataka, has opted to go in for acquisition of rakes under the 'own your wagon' scheme floated by the Indian Railways under the public-private partnership model, the release added.
