Kerala HC directs inquiry into teachers' appointment

Kochi, Mar 30 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the Director of the Technical Education Department to scrutinise teachers' appointments in Pappanamcode Sri Chithira Thirunal Engineering College.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice J B Koshy said the Director should examine whether the appointments were in accordance with norms prescribed by the All India Technical Education Council and submit a report to the court within two months.

The petition filed by Aathyavan Kottarakkara said the appointment of teachers by the Board of Directors of the college, headed by Transport Minister N Sakthan, had irregularities and corruption.

Though counsel for the college contended that neither the state government nor the KSRTC had control over its affairs, the court was prima facie not inclined to accept this.
