India Today scribe assaulted in Patna

Patna, Mar 30 (UNI) Principal correspondent of English weekly, ''India Today'', Sanjay Kumar Jha was allegedly assaulted by proprietor of a private coaching centre and his associates under Kotwali police station area here today.

Deputy Superintendent of police (Law and Order) Amar Kumar Singh said here that the incident took place when Mr Jha was passing by the coaching institute in his car.

He said the proprietor and his associates allegedly attacked Mr Jha on some petty issue.

The journalist had been admitted to a private nursing home with injuries.

The proprietor and one of his associates Rajkumar had been arrested in this connection, the DSP said, adding that an intensive search operation was on to nab an employee of the institute.

Meanwhile, different journalists associations and members of the electronic media expressed their anguish over the incident to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who assured them of stern action against the guilty.
